ConfirmNow.org is a joint project of the Asian American Justice Center (AAJC) and the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) to promote awareness of the lack of diversity in the federal judiciary among Asian Pacific Americans and the broader community.
- Asian Pacific Americans make up approximately 5 percent of the U.S. population, but only 1 percent of the federal judiciary. Only 11 out of 875 federal judges are Asian Pacific Americans.
- Only five Asian Pacific Americans have ever served as a federal appellate court judge.
- Prior to the recent confirmation of Judge Denny Chin to the Second Circuit, NONE of the 175 active federal appellate judges was an APA.
- Professor Liu would be the only APA on his court, despite the large Asian Pacific American population the Ninth Circuit covers.
Today, our effort begins with Goodwin Liu.
